WILLIAM SELLERS COWTON, a farm labourer,
born on the 19th July 1900 at Seamer,
(the first child of Mark Cowton and Ada Sellers)

and DOROTHY (Dolly) SIMPSON,
born on the 20th March 1903 at Gristhorpe,
(the 12th child of Harry and Sarah Simpson)

were married at Scarborough Register Office on the 29th April 1922.

They had fourteen children:-
WILLIAM Born on the 18th April 1921 at Lebberston.
ALFRED HENRY Born on the 18th July 1922 at Lebberston.
MARGARET JOAN Born on the 21st January 1924 at Scarborough.
THOMAS Born on the 5th November 1925 at Cayton.
GEORGE ROBERT Born on the 17th September 1927 at Cayton.
DENNIS GORDON Born on the 17th September 1927 at Cayton.
CHARLES MICHAEL Born on the 2nd March 1929 at Carlton.
IVY Born on the 10th September 1930 at Carlton.
JOHN RICHARD Born on the 2nd January 1934 at Brompton-by-Sawdon.
ROY Born on the 21st March 1935 at Brompton by Sawdon.
MARY Born on the 2nd October 1936 at Ayton.
DOROTHY ROSE Born on the 19th July 1938 at Ayton.
