DENNIS GORDON COWTON (1927 - 2007)

Dennis was born on the 17th September 1927 at Cayton,
the sixth child of
William and Dorothy Cowton.

Dennis was twin to George.

When he left Ayton school he worked on various local farms.

Towards the end of WW2 Dennis was an auxiliary fireman at Snainton.


He eventually became a coal delivery driver for Chadwick’s.

On the 19th January 1950 he was married to
GLENYS (Nicholson)
(born 1929 at Scarborough).
When they were married they moved into a newly built council house at 24 West End, Cayton and Glenys still lives there.

Dennis later worked at Cayton Garage until he retired. 

Dennis suffered from Parkinson’s disease for a number of years.
He died peacefully at home on the 26th January 2007.

Dennis and Glenys had three children:-
SUSANv

born 1950 at Scarborough.

In 1967 at Cayton Church
she married JOHN TROTTER,
(born 1946 at
Newcastle upon Tyne).


They live in Newcastle and have the following children:-

  Garry Trotter (Nicholson)_

born 1968
at Scarborough.

Garry married Tammy Nicholson and changed his surname by deed poll to Nicholson
and they have 3 children:-

Abigail and Joe

Gary & Connie 2001

Gary & Tammy
  Mark Trotter

born 1971 at Ashington.

sadly Mark died in 2006.

 born 1981 at York.
CHRISTOPHERv

born 1951 at Scarborough.
Married to Diane (Lightfoot), Divorced.
They had a son:-

Martin Cowton born 1971 at Scarborough.

Christopher was married again to Helen (Rhodes),
born 1956 at York,
they later divorced.
They had the following children:-

James Cowton born 1979 at Scarborough.

Lee Cowton born 1984 at Scarborough.

  In 2003 Christopher was married for a third time at Scarborough Register Office to
Carol Christine (Mathews),
born 1951 at Scarborough.

born 1962 at Cayton.
In 1981 at Cayton Church,
she married RUSSELL BLAND
(born 1958 in Ontario).
They live in Glenrothes, Scotland.


They had the following children:-

he married Johanne Kate (Morrison)

Matthew Bland born 1986 at Scarborough.
  Elizabeth Bland born 1989 at Harrogate.
  Amelia Rose Bland born 2001 at Kirkcaldy.
  Luke Russell Bland born 2003 at Kirkcaldy.
