JOHN CHARLES WILLIAMS (c1887 - 1951)

John Charles Williams was born around 1887,
the only child of Richard Charles and Margaret Williams.

Known to the family as Jack.
In the 1st quarter of 1911 he married
Martha Emma BELCH,
(born 6th December 1880 at Pontesbury Hill, Salop).
(She was christened at Lord's Hill Chapel,
Snailbeach, Salop).

Martha was the daughter of
Thomas Belch and Mary Holmes
and lived before 1892 at Llanwddyn village,
which is now underneath lake Vrnwy.
Jack & Martha lived at 23 Old Coleham, Shrewsbury.

Jack & Martha had the following children, all christened at Holy Trinity Church, Belle Vue, Shrewsbury:-

Edith Mary

born 3rd March 1911 at Shrewsbury.

Thomas Charles

born 3rd December 1912 at 23 Old Coleham, Shrewsbury.

Margaret Kedzilie

born July 1915 at Shrewsbury.

Ernest John

born born 1919 at Shrewsbury.

Vera Annie

born 14th April 1922 at Shrewsbury.

Jack was sworn in as a Freeman of Shrewsbury, Salop, on the 11th April 1931.

Jack died of Coronary Thrombosis on the 10th October 1951 and was buried on the 13th October 1951 at Shrewsbury Cemetery.

Martha continued to live at 23 Old Coleham until the early 1960's when she moved to a 'Prefab' At Upton Lane, Monkmoor. Martha died of a Cerebral Thrombosis (Stroke) on the 14th December 1964 at the Royal Salop Infirmary, Shrewsbury, and was buried on the 17th December 1964 at Shrewsbury Cemetery with her husband Jack, where a stone (shown right) marks their grave.
