| In the early 1970's Phil joined the Shrewsbury Fire Service, becoming known to his mates as 'Pip'. Phil and Irene were divorced in 1975. |
| In 1977 Phil married Denise Parry (born 1950). Phil and Denise had the following children:- |

On the 22nd July 1983 Phil was sworn in as a Freeman of Shrewsbury. Phil and Denise were separated in November 2000 & divorced in 2004. |

Phil married Janet Valerie Thomas (nee Lewis, born 1959 at Grantham, Lincs, daughter of Cyril & Peggy Lewis) at Oswestry Register Office on 11th September 2004, gaining a step-daughter ‘Trina’ & step-son ‘Mark'. |
