On the 31st January 1864 Michael DITCHBURN married Mathilda ANDERSON, (born 1845 daughter of John Anderson, a Shoe Maker).The marriage was solemnized at ‘The Parish Church’. Michael’s profession was given as a Cabinet Maker & Mathilda’s as a Milliner (Michael’s father George’s profession is here given as a Carpenter). |

Sometime around 1890, Alfred was working as a painter when he met Annie BOWRON, (born 20 May 1873 at Silver Street, Ruswarp, Whitby, the daughter of Sarah Beedle & John Bowron, a policeman from Whitby). Annie was living at 5 Garibaldi Street, Scarborough at this time. They were married on the 2nd December 1894 at Eastborough Church, Scarborough. The marriage was witnessed by Thomas Pollard & Sarah Bowron (Annie’s sister). Alfred and Annie lived at 4 Auborough Street in Scarborough, where their first two children were born. In 1901 they moved to a pig farm in Pately Bridge, where their next two children were born. On 25th May 1910 they moved back to Scarborough, to14 Ewart Street and eventually to 107 Seamer Road which was to become the Ditchburn family home for some considerable time afterwards. |

Annie continued to live at 107 Seamer Road with various members of her family until she died on the 26th January 1951.
The cause of her death was given as ‘Anaemia and Arterio-Sclerosis’. |
