WILLIAM COWTON (1921 -1960)
Bill was born on the 18th April 1921 at Lebberston,
the first child of William and Dorothy Cowton.
On the 10th June 1950 at Ayton Church,
Bill was married to DOROTHY (Raine),

born 1930 at Ayton).
Bill died in a road accident on the 17th November 1960 at Scarborough aged 39.
Bill was a driver for the 'United' bus company, and on the 17th November 1960 for some reason he finished his shift later than normal. His friend, Mr George Wilkinson, was not well at the time and his works foreman had let him leave work early, and while he was waiting for his bus, Bill pulled up and gave him a lift home. They had gone less than a mile when a wagon failed to stop at a road junction on their right, and they were both killed.
In 1963 Dot married Frank Lawton.
