She was the youngest and like the rest of the family went into service when she left school. Whilst working at Graffitoe Farm at Hunmanby she met her husband to be, WILLIAM SELLERS COWTON, a farm labourer, born on the 19th July 1900 at Seamer, the son of MARK COWTON, born 1881 in Hunmanby. They were married at Scarborough Register Office 29th April 1922. Bill and Dolly lived at High Killerby farm in 1927. Bill worked as a foreman at a farm in Barnsley until around 1930-31, when they moved to Coteshead farm at Sawdon. Four years later they moved to The Old Mill Cottage in West Ayton and eventually settled at 29 Lonsdale Place, East Ayton, where they raised their family of fourteen children. |

Bill died at East Ayton on the 31st December 1969 at the age of 69. |

Dolly finally moved to 57 Pasture Lane, Seamer, where she died on the 28th December 1990 aged 87. |

They are both buried in Ayton Churchyard. |
