Dodson was the fifth child of Thomas & Mary Seller. He married and probably moved to Kilham. In 1871 he was a shepherd at Graffitoe Farm, Hunmanby.
He was a widower at that time living at 7 Prospect Place, Hunmanby,
with his son, Lambert, (born c1861 at Kilham).
