New year opened with medium weather.
March 2^nd. Large number of people in the village & district are or have been down with the flue. Have had hardly any frost or snow.
March 6^th. No services were held at the chapel to day on account of the influenza epidemic.
13^th. The vicar & congregation at the village church to day consisted wholly of grey-haired men.
30^th March. Planted a few potatoes. Weather cold & unsettled. Land in medium condition. There have been big losses among the lambing ewes this season.
One local farmer has lost forty.
20^th. Our old friend “Sandy died to day.
April 6^th. Sown a row of peas. Land rather damp & cold.
25^th Mr Gilbank & family left today for Willowby Wold, his place at Mr sawdons being taken by Mr Donald Hammond of Hunmanby.
Weather cold & unsettled.
May 2^nd. Finished planting potatoes.
May 31^st. Sowing Swedes, land in fair condition. Weather cold & unsettled. 
June 16^th. Finished sowing turnips, land dry & in fair condition.
17^th. Heavy rain.
July 27^th. A young farm man was killed by lightning at Greenland today. A horse and two men were knocked down but were not much worse. The man’s name was Deighton and his home was at Muston.
Weather showery & unsettled.
Aug 15^th. Very heavy rain. Mr Brambles left to-day for North Burton.
Aug. Donald Hammond has finished work at Mr Sawdons but has not yet left the village.
18^th. Very heavy rain.
Sept 5^th. Started harvest. Weather showery & unsettled.
Gathered two pints of brambles.
15^th. Finished cutting corn. Mrs D Hammond left for Beverly.
Oct 10^th. Finished leading sheaves.
Oct 28^th. Big gale during night.
A garage of Mr Megsons was lifted over the hedge into Mrs Taylors garden.
