MARTHA was born
at Gristhorpe on the
12th October 1894,
the fifth child of
Harry and Sarah Simpson.

Little is known of her early life but she probably went into service and eventually settled at Seamer, living firstly in a cottage in Main Street, then at 55 Stony Haggs Road.

Frank Grimmer Frank 'Darkie' Grimmer

 

She was married to FOWLER JONES GRIMMER who was born at Pickering in 1903.  He was more affectionately known as 'Frank' or 'Darkie' and was a general dealer.

Frank died at the age of 66 in 1971 and Martha died in April of 1972 aged 78.

They are both buried in Seamer Churchyard.

They had no children
