A splendid spirit of patriotism has been manifested by a Scarborough family, the father Mr. TH Pollard of Auborough Street and his four sons having taken service in his Majesties forces. |
Corporal TH Pollard the father was a reservist and at the outbreak of the war re-joined the Colours. He is now with the 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, Green Howard’s at Cranlington Camp. (Right) |
Sergeant TH Pollard the Eldest son is also in the 5th Yorkshire Regiment, and now at Long Benton, he is a married man and his wife lives in Scarborough. (3rd from left) |
Sapper C Pollard the second eldest son is in the Royal Engineers doing duty in France, he joined in August 1914 (4th from left) |
Lance Corporal H Pollard is in the Grenadier Guards and has been in the army for five years. He is in a Hospital in Liverpool under treatment for a wound in his left arm. (1st left) |
Gunner Oscar Pollard the youngest son is in the Royal Field Artillery; he joined three years ago and has been at the front since last March. He was slightly wounded sometime ago, but soon recovered and returned to action. (France) (2nd left) |
