THOMAS CHARLES WILLIAMS

 

1912 to 1980

 

 

Thomas Charles WILLIAMS was born on the 3rd December 1912 at 23 Old Coleham, Shrewsbury, the second child of John Charles and Martha Emma Williams.

Tom married Sylvia SIDES on 17 December 1939 at The Register Office, Shrewsbury.

They lived for a while with Ted and Edith Digwood before moving to Lyndene, Montford Bridge where they lived between 1939 and 1965 and brought up their family of four children: -

 

            John Robert                           born 14th December 1941

 

            Peter Charles                         born 24th May 1944

 

            Philip Richard                         born 7th November 1950

 

            Sheila Mary                           born 13th December 1954

 

 

 

Tom was in the military from 1940 to 1944 serving in the Home Guard.

He and Charlie Walker protected Montford Bridge from invasion by the Germans.

 

Harveys at Frankwell Shrewsbury employed him from sometime just before 1944,

where he served an apprenticeship in electrical engineering.

 

He was later employed at Roushill, Shrewsbury by Thomassons working as an

electrician, and was then employed about 1950 by MEB.

 

From 1965 to Aug 1980 Tom and Sylvia lived at 4 The Crescent, Montford Bridge, Shrewsbury.

 

Tom died on the 8th August 1980 at Copthorne Hospital, Shrewsbury of lung cancer,

and was buried on the 15th August 1980 at Bicton Church, Bicton, Shrewsbury.
