| ROBERT HENRY SIMPSON (1890 – 1976) |

BOB was born
at Old Bar Cottage, Seamer,
on the 19th August 1890,
the third child of
Harry and Sarah Simpson. |

He worked as a farm labourer, until he was conscripted into the Coldstream Guards in World War 1. He was severely wounded in France and was finally discharged in 1917.
On the 23rd March 1917 he was married at Lowthorpe Church to Eva Tate (born on the 29th April 1890 at Nafferton), (daughter of George Tate, a Shepherd on a farm on High Road, Fraisthorpe & Martha Helen Nicholson).
Bob subsequently obtained employment with the London North Eastern Railway as a porter at Sherburn-in-Elmet.
He was later transferred to York on promotion to Guard.
Bob & Eva settled in York at 7 Alcuin Avenue.
Later they moved to 236 Tang Hall Lane.
