CHAPTER TWO

 

SIDES

 

On the 17TH November 1785 SAMUEL SIDES and LYDIA (surname unknown) were married by Banns, the event being recorded in the West Felton Parish Register.

They had three children: -

 

            SAMUEL       born 1786

 

            THOMAS        born 1795

 

            TIMOTHY      born 1797

 

SAMUEL married ANNE BOWEN (born 1779).

They had four children: -

 

MARIA           born 1816

 

THOMAS       born 1819

 

EDWARD       born 1821

 

JANE               born 1823

 

THOMAS married HARRIET NEWELL (born 1811)

They had three children: -

 

            MARY                                     born 1842

 

            SAMUEL WILLIAM                        born 1844

 

            SARAH ANNE                                   born 1846        died 1890

 

Thomas died in 1892 and Harriet died in 1896.

 

On the 16th November 1871, at St Mary’s Church, Salop, SAMUEL WILLIAM married FANNY CARLESS (born 1836 – the daughter of Richard Carless who was a tailor living in St Mary’s Place, Shrewsbury). They lived near Cound, Salop at a house called ‘Cound Stanks’ where Samuel ran his own shoemaking business.

They had two children: -

 

            CONSTANCE HARRIET                   born 1872 (She married Henry Jones. Henry died in 1928 and Constance died in 1945)

 

            THOMAS RICHARD WILLIAM   born 1879

Samuel William died 12th May 1901 and Fanny died 17th August 1916
